Thank you
Dear Musaics of the Bay Friends,
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support for Musaics of the Bay over the past year.
2023 was a big one for us! We began the year with our first visual artist-in-residence, Katie Swatland, leading a residency for 5 emerging composers. We commissioned and premiered composer/cellist Peter Myers’ glorious piano trio “Icefall” in collaboration with the Santa Cruz Symphony, reaching new audiences in the Santa Cruz area. We introduced a new collaborative project with the incredible Persian vocalist Mahsa Vahdat called “Growing Songs;” in it, Musaics of the Bay composers and instrumentalists worked in close collaboration with Mahsa’s students to create new works that bridged musics and cultures through poetry and song.
With the help of our generous supporter Mike Cassidy, we were also fortunate to present music to a brand new South Bay audience in Los Altos, and at the Runnymede Sculpture Farm in Woodside. These salon-style concerts blended conversation, music, visual arts, wonderful food and beverages, and Q&A sessions with the audience.
Your support means a great deal to us, and we hope you’ll consider including us in your Giving Tuesday plan so that we can continue making a positive impact by supporting and empowering a generation of emerging composers, visual artists, and instrumentalists from the Bay Area and beyond.
Wishing you a joyful holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you in January!
With sincere thanks,
Audrey Vardanega
